The RCEM Emergency Medicine Undergraduate Essay Prize winners 2019-20 will be required to present their work at the RCEM Scientific Conference 2020 which will take place in Manchester from October 12-14 2020.Sadly, there are few opportunities to study these rare conditions at university, leaving medical students and scientists unprepared to deal with the complex needs of rare disease patients. The Student Voice essay competition raises the profile of rare diseases among trainee doctors and scientists. It encourages them to consider rare diseases.Open for applications: November 2020Every year the College offers a number of bursaries, prizes, and awards to undergraduate medical students, trainees, and consultants. Elective bursariesCloses: March 2021Every year the College offers ten elective bursaries for medical students. These are intended to support undergraduates carrying out an elective period of study in either clinical oncology.
The essay competitions are now closed and will reopen in 2020. The College’s two annual essay prizes offer undergraduates and Foundation doctors the chance to take an in-depth look at a particular aspect of pathology through a written piece. The winning entry in each category will be published on the RCPath website and the writers of the.Instructions for entrants and essay questions are provided for the Kelvin, Thomas Campion and Vellacott prizes on the lefthand side as attachments. There is also an FAQ page for entrants and their teachers, as well as a guide for teachers on how to use our online system to run an internal competition within school and how to approve or modify essays.
The competition is open to all medical students in the UK or Republic of Ireland. If you have submitted in previous years but you are still a medical student, you are welcome to re-enter the competition for the 2020 prize.
